Another amazing jewellery story with more of a quirk. Everything is unique and individual, perfect for those who are hard to please. They also have amazing sunglass chains, which can be easily converted for face masks, especially fitting for the current situation. Add bonus points for their charitable contributions, donating 50% of their profits to BLM charities!

The beauty company with a twist! Not only is everything organic, vegan and handmade, they also seek to empower homeless women through beauty. They actively work with homeless charities as well as serving everyone’s beauty favourites. Their balms are especially amazing!

The Refillery is Edinburgh’s largest plastic-free store. Not only does it provide everyday groceries, it also sells skin care bits perfect for ethical presents. If you’re on a zero waste Christmas journey this is the place to go.

Chromatica Garden specialises in hand-painted botanical accessories. They are full of colour and sparkle, helping to bring some extra joy to a sad year! She can also take design requests via Instagram. An amazing present for any plant lover to brighten up their Christmas.

The Marchmont Gallery (@marchmontgallry)
Lovely little gift shop nestled in the heart of Marchmont. It specialises in art but has lots of little odd bits and bobs perfect for indecisive relative. They also sell a range of handmade crafts.

A little craft store, specialising in unique wooden gifts and Christmas decorations. They also sell a range of building kits for children, to customise and colour. Perfect for children who need something to do this Christmas!

A new addition to the Royal Mile, Neon Sheep offers lots of funky gifts and Christmas decorations. If you’re after a quirky bauble, this is the place to go! They’re also the perfect place for stocking fillers and bits you couldn’t find anywhere else.

Paper Tiger (@shoppapertiger)
Paper Tiger is the Edinburgh destination for contemporary cards, distinctive wrap, exciting stationary and innovative gifts. They have an amazing range of Soy candles perfect for any taste, as well as lots of special baby gifts if you’re looking to shop for a new parent or newborn.

A contemporary interior shop providing all the ideal gifts for your favourite interior lover. They have an amazing plant (and pot) collection, as well as lots of lovely, unique mugs for your favourite caffeine addict.

Caoba is a Mexican-inspired shop based in Edinburgh and online. They sell a range of colourful crockery that instantly gives off that holiday feel. As would be expected, they also offer plenty of succulents, especially the infamous cacti. You can’t go wrong here!

A little snippet of Scandinavia! Full of contemporary gifts, funky candles and beautiful vases. They are open 7 days a week and also offer delivery. It’s like a mini, but better, IKEA on your doorstep.

Located in New Town and Bruntsfield, this is one of my personal favourites. There is nothing it doesn’t sell. It’s the perfect little shop for odd bits and bobs and would perfectly finish off (or make) any Christmas present.

Handcrafted by a lovely Edinburgh couple, these candles, diffusers and melts are amazing. They even have special Christmas scents. Add bonus points for their sustainability and eco-friendly accreditation!

Independent and ethical fashion boutique located on Thistle Street. The perfect place for jeans, with excellent service and custom fittings. Add bonus points for their lovely collection of head scarfs!

Shrub Co-op (@shrubcoop)
The place to go for everything and anything, and at the best price. They’re open from Wednesday to Saturday 11-4pm and actively work towards a zero-waste Edinburgh. They deserve extra bonus points!

Lighthouse Bookshop (@lighthousebks)
Edinburgh’s leading political book shop – a queer, anarchist, feminist community space with over 10,000 titles. They have so many great books that you’ll struggle to choose, you could even pick up something to educate that relative!

The best little bakery that doubles as a gift shop. I would say the perfect combination. Their cruffins are amazing and you can order anything online straight to your door. There’s nothing this place can’t do!

This is the place to go for anything or anyone arty. They have a range of arts, posters and crafts, perfect for keeping you occupied during any future potential lockdowns. They also sell amazing paint sets, for any up and coming artists you may know.

New Leaf Co-op (@newleafcoop)
The second Co-op in Edinburgh, this amazing little place has just opened and is well stacked out with low-waste, organic and wholefood goodies. They also sell facemasks, candles and cards, perfect for little gifts.
